E-CAKe

Eye-tracking based Cognitive Assessment via Keyboard (E-CAKe)

E-CAKe is an experiment to establish typing as a method that induces cognitive load, as validated using verified, self-reported cognitive load assessment tools. The typing is performed using eye-tracking, so as to simulate the situation of typing and communication in people who use eye-tracking in augmentative and alternative communication systems.

What should you do?

The task is on gaze-typing on a computer using a remote eye tracker.

Who can participate?

Individual irrespective of age, gender, race, religion or ethnical background, who speak English or Danish fluently.

The experiment can be performed in English or Danish.

Who cannot participate?

Individuals with a past severe head injury, like concussion, affecting the ability to sit and focus at a point for a long time.

Time Duration

There are 5 sessions in the experiment, each session has a duration of 1 hour and each session on a different day.

Economy and Compensation

The program and the study is funded partly by the Bevica Foundation and partly by the Technical University of Denmark.

The participants are compensated with DKK 100 for every session they participate in, and DKK 50 if they are the fastest in typing, in that session.

Informed Consent

You can read the consent form before starting with the experiment, and are free to withdraw from further experiments at any time during the study.

Who will have access to your information?

Technical University of Denmark is responsible for your data. All data is collected and stored without saving the name of the participant. The data stored is subject to the EU Data Protection Directive (GDPR)

Only information about your experiment results can be disclosed to you, once the analysis is performed.

The data is used only for research purposes.
