PhD student Khiem Nguyen-Duy from the Electronics Group at DTU Electrical Engineering recently finished his external stay at the Colorado Power Electronics Center (CoPEC), at the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado, USA, under the guidance of Professor Dragan Maksimovic.

Khiem writes “My stay in Colorado took place from May to August 2014.

CoPEC is respected for being expert in digital control of power electronics converters. So this was an excellent chance for me to broaden my technical knowledge about digital control and to introduce the expertise in power electronics and analogue control for which the Electronics Group is renowned.

I attended weekly seminars presented by graduate students working in CoPEC.

My work on tracking converters received a lot of positive feedback and valuable suggestions from the professor and the graduate students for improvement.

The stay not only allowed me to obtain different technical knowledge, but also brought me a chance of improving my academic writing skills. The result was that one manuscript had been accepted by the IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics.

In general, this was a wonderful external stay that brought a lot of new knowledge and opportunities not only for me, but also for the Electronics Group at DTU Electrical Engineering.
