High Tech Summit 2018 - CACHET Beyond the Pill track

At this year's DTU High Tech Summit - October 10-11, CACHET will host a track with a focus on how digitalisation will affect healthcare within both the medico- and life science sectors under the title Beyond the Pill.

The healthcare system in Denmark and internationally are facing changes in the reimbursement models used both between sectors in the healthcare system and in relation to how payment is done to private actors delivering medicines and treatment. In parallel, technological developments within IoT, big data analytics, etc. are providing radically new ways of monitoring and motivating patients and citizens to support the management and prevention of chronic diseases.

To companies, this poses a set of so far unknown requirements to the documentation of the effectiveness and better health actually provided by their solutions and products, but also news opportunities for technologies to support. For example, the development could mean that it is no longer enough to only sell pharmaceutical products with documented evidence from clinical trials, but with an additional requirement to show the actual effects of the solutions to improve patient outcomes.

Resulting from this is that the traditional pharma companies are looking with increasing intensity at technological and digital solutions to support and expand the effectiveness of medicinal products and at the same time offer more relevant and personalised treatments to improve adherence and quality of life.
