The CACHET network reassembled on the 3rd of March for a virtual research seminar.
Over 30 researchers from the CACHET network gathered virtually on Zoom to attend keynote talks by their fellow researchers, all of which sparked great conversation.
The seminar started with a welcome and status by the director of CACHET Jakob Bardram. Following this was the first round of talks on digital health technology. The presenters and topics were as follows:
- Jonas Isaksen, UCPH - Associations between the electrocardiogram (ECG) and Alzheimer’s dementia (slides)
- Tanya Bafna, DTU - Mental fatigue detection using an iPad (slides)
- Camilla Haahr-Raunkjær, UCPH/ BFH - WARD CSS - Continuous Monitoring of Hospitalised Patients in the General Ward pt. 1 (slides)
- Søren Rasmussen, DTU - WARD CSS - Continuous Monitoring of Hospitalised Patients in the General Ward pt. 2 (slides)
- Saud Abdulaziz M. Alomairah, UCPH - FitMum study update and potential of data-driven discoveries (slides)
After the first round of talks concluded, it was time to pass along the CACHET Deployment Challenge Trophy, which was passed on to Devender Kumar for deploying the feasibility study of mCardia, a context-aware ECG monitoring system for arrhythmia screening. Following this, the next round of talks began:
- Georgi Tanev, DTU - A programmable cyber-fluidic platform for life science (slides)
- Carolina Duarte, DTU - Designing Sustainable Behavioural Change to Prevent the Spread of Infectious Diseases in Nursing Homes (slides)
- Devender Kumar, DTU - Understanding the contextual and temporal distribution of false positivesin a deep learning-based atrial fibrillation detection algorithm (slides)
- Alix Feldman, DTU - Listen Carefully: Healthcare design for listening effort and cognitive function (slides)
Lastly, the seminar was concluded with a final talk by associate professor at the University of Copenhagen, Tariq Osman Andersen, titled "Is it possible to predict a cardiac arrest? AI close to clinical decision practice" (slides).
All talks presented in the seminar showed the will and ability to adapt from the researchers and their participants when faced with a pandemic. While everyone recognised that it had been a challenge, it allowed some to see their research in a new light and allowed others to apply their research in a new context, all of which was deemed beneficial in the end.
When all talks concluded, the floor was left open to discussion and networking between the researchers.
