CACHET Spring Seminar 2019

The CACHET network reassembled on 27th of May 2019 for a research seminar in the historic surroundings at Medical Museion.

50+ participants from the CACHET network joined together to hear keynote talks from industrial and academic speakers, attended a series of hands-on workshops, and engaged in discussions related to the use of technology in modern and historical medicine from bloodletting to data-driven hearing health care.

The CACHET Deployment Challenge Trophy was passed on to Tanya Bafna for deploying the Eye-tracking based Cognitive Assessment via Keyboard (E-CAKe) study.

The day started with a guided tour of the Medical Museion exhibition. Medical Museion is a combined museum and research unit at the University of Copenhagen and has one of the biggest and richest historical collections of medical artefacts in Europe with more than 150,000 artefacts.

The seminar was initiated by a status on CACHET from Jakob E. Bardram [slides] followed by a keynote talk by Filip Rønne, Director Audiology, Widex on “User Engagement” [slides].

Then participants were then split up into four workshops, to discuss and share best-practice related to conducting research at CACHET. The topics were:

  • Navigating chaos (aka Research) - lead by Jayden Khakurel, DTU
  • The art of collaborating with industry - lead by Steven Jeuris, DTU
  • Recruiting test subjects - what works? - lead by Caroline Borup Roland, UCPH

After the workshops, Allan Green, Chief Consultant at the Capital Region Center for Telemedicine, gave an overview and insights to the best use of telemedicine in the Capital region [slides].

This was followed by three CACHET research presentations showcasing the broad focus on health technology at CACHET.

  • Minor creations of self-care for life with chronic disease and technology – installed base for eHealth? - Claudia Bagger-Petersen, CACHET, UCPH. [Slides]
  • Data-driven user experience for personalizing hearing health care - Benjamin Johansen, CACHET, DTU. [Slides]
  • The importance of behavioural design when making health care products and services - Robin van Oorschot, Postdoc, DTU. [Slides]

The CACHET seminar ended with a final keynote from Adam Bencard, associate professor, Medical Museion, UCPH on “The Role of Technology in Medicine – Past, Present, and Future” followed with many questions regarding learnings from history and the challenges of modern medicine today [slides].

After the seminar, a majority of the participants finished the day with a joint dinner at the Chinese restaurant Don Yuan.
We look forward to inviting to the next CACHET seminar in the Fall of 2019!
